My first impressions on arriving in Geneva where totally not expected. Me and my girlfriend along with another couple of friends were totally shocked! We got the train to geneva central and walked to our hotel which was not far from the station. Upon walking to the hotel we found ourselves in a prostitute ridden area with a lot of drug dealers standing on every corner.
The hotel itself is clean and in a good location close to lake geneva and shops,bars,restaurants etc. Moving away from the back streets and onto the main places of interest the city is beautiful and really friendly. The side that lets it down are the rats asking you do you want to buy drugs every time you leave the hotel to grab a bite to eat or go for a stroll.
Now there is a high level of police activity around the area but they seem to drive past and some even stop to talk to the prostitutes standing on the corners. You can easily spot the type of people that are selling drugs as they clearly don't belong there and are not from geneva! Dear Sir, We would like to thank you for choosing our hotel and for sharing your experience. We regret to know that the neighborhood might have bother your stay, the reason why we encourage our guests to turn to the left so they avoid the red corner area and get directly into the heart of the city where you might discover many restaurants.
Sincerly yours,. You could probably read what other people have already said about the area all around this hotel. If you don't feel comfortable walking with your family to get to your hotel, then avoid this hotel. I wish I had read the reviews before booking this hotel. On top of that, being a Le Club Platinum member counts nothing.
The hotel treats Le Club membership at this hotel as a nuisance rather than being treated well. Early checkin? That will be 65 CHF. You are kidding. Want to speak to the manager? You talk to me first" yes, that is what the receptionist actually said to me. The manager was also no help when I could eventually convince the receptionist that I do need to speak to him. Brusque and disrespectful, he dismissed all my requests. Oh, you didn't get a welcome drink voucher for Le Club people? See you later.
